Our Commitment
Dogged News is committed to ensuring that our content and website are accessible to all readers, including those with disabilities. We believe that independent journalism should be available to everyone, and we continuously work to improve the accessibility of our Site.
Standards We Follow
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following accessibility features on the Site:
- Semantic HTML: Our pages use proper heading structures and semantic markup to help screen readers navigate content.
- Alt text: All article images include descriptive alternative text for screen reader users.
- Keyboard navigation: The Site can be navigated using a keyboard without requiring a mouse.
- Color contrast: We maintain sufficient color contrast ratios between text and backgrounds.
- Responsive design: The Site is fully functional on mobile devices, tablets, and desktops.
- Dark mode: A dark theme is available for users who prefer reduced brightness or high contrast.
- Readable typography: We use clear, legible serif and sans-serif fonts at comfortable reading sizes.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of the Site may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We are actively working to identify and address these gaps. Known areas of ongoing improvement include:
- Some older embedded content or third-party widgets may have limited accessibility
- Complex interactive components such as article search filters may require further refinement for screen reader users

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Dogged News. If you experience any barriers while using the Site, or if you have suggestions for improvement, please contact us. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days.
When reporting an issue, please include:

Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly audit our Site and incorporate accessibility improvements into our development process. We are committed to making Dogged News a publication that every reader can access and enjoy.
